Meet the Team

Morgan Ovitsky
Executive Director

Morgan previously was project coordinator for Be Well Berkshires, a Mass in Motion funded initiative that supports equitable access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity. Through this work, Morgan facilitated the Berkshire County Food Access Collaborative, a multi-sector collaborative platform to examine the regionally specific assets and challenges as it relates to local food access. Morgan sits on many committees including the steering committee for the Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market, the Healthy Pittsfield Partnership and the Age Friendly Task Force. She resides in Hancock with her husband, two kids and a dog.

Jenny Schwartz
Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator

Jenny currently serves as the food access coordinator for the Southern
Berkshire Rural Health Network and Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, MA. Jenny
also manages open hours at The People’s Pantry and manages volunteer activities at
Berkshire Bounty, also in Great Barrington. Jenny also has extensive experience
providing educational cooking experience in the community with an emphasis on local
and seasonal foods.

Sara Haimowitz

Development Director

Sara holds a Masters in Social Work and worked with children and families for many years. While doing this work, she took an interest in outdoor adventure therapy and started writing grants to lead her own outdoor adventure programs. Discovering a talent for raising money and growing programs from concept to completion, she moved from social work into development. Sara has been in the field of Development for 20 plus years, raising money for social service, social justice, arts and political advocacy organizations.

Elizabeth McElhaney

Social Media Coordinator

Elizabeth McElhaney is excited to be a part of the Berkshire Bounty team as Social Media Contractor.  She enjoys creating content and being a part of an organization that believes that everyone has the right to nutritious food and works toward that goal. In her free time she loves to perform with the community choir and theater, as well as spending time with her family.  Elizabeth is from Vermont and lives there with her husband Justin, and their two daughters Ella and Willow.

A resident of Great Barrington, Mark has long been active in the community. He sat on the Great Barrington Finance Committee for many years and is also a past president of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, a significantly sized congregation in Great Barrington. Mark is a retired attorney and investment banker. He holds a BA, JD and MBA. Mark co-founded Backyard Bounty of the Berkshires, the predecessor organization to Berkshire Bounty, with Jay Weintraub in 2016.

Mark Lefenfeld
Founder

Jay has lived in the Berkshires since 2001, and has a history of community involvement there. While residing in Alford, he conceived and instituted Alford-Assist, where town residents can post requests for help from neighbors. Jay was also a key member of the group that planned, installed and oversaw the creation of a municipally-owned fiber-optic network in Alford. Jay retired in 2012 after spending over 30 years as Wall Street research analyst with several firms, including heading up Corporate Bond Research at Merrill Lynch. He co-founded Backyard Bounty of the Berkshires, the predecessor organization to Berkshire Bounty, with Mark Lefenfeld in 2016.
